June, 2004 Productions in the News

FreeFlight, our HD documentary on the sport of paragliding and ultralights, is currently featured in an article we wrote for the June 2004 issue of DV magazine (volume 12, number 6). The article describes the production of the documentary from initial development through post production, and details many of the challenges in-between. If you don’t subscribe to the print version of DV, you can check out the article online at http://www.dv.com. Access to this and other articles requires that you sign-up for a membership - at no cost.

FreeFlight explores the sport of paragliders and ultralights – taking the viewer to new heights – literally. Click here to learn more about the project and watch the trailer.

A short article about “On a Single Breath” is also slated to be published in the upcoming print and online issue of highdef magazine http://www.highdef.com, as well as another print publication. More details to follow.

Our HD documentary about the sport of Freediving, “On a Single Breath,” has been nominated as an Official Selection for the VisionFest 2004 Film Festival to be held June 23–27, 2004 at the Cantor Film Center, 36 East Eighth Street, New York City.

10/1/02 - Tom Strodel of 24fps Productions will be speaking at the IFP Market conference on October 1, 2002.

The session, entitled: "Editing with Final Cut Pro" will focus on different uses of the Emmy Award winning editing system, challenges, and costs. I'll be focusing on high definition editing with Final Cut Pro and will detail some of the high definition production techniques that I've helped to develop.

The panel, Moderated by Michael Wong, Strategic Account Development Executive, Apple Computer, also features Jake Abraham, Director of Post Production, InDigEnt; Youna Kwak, Editor & Principal, Final Frame; and Christopher Ward, Filmmaker.

Speaking on editing HD with Mini-DV, Tom's participation in The "Mac as a Platform for Mainstream Media Innovation" session at MacWorld conference this past July ended-up being a great success.

Over 60 people attended the presentation which also included Nick DeMartino, Director, New Media Ventures, American Film Institute, Kyle Shannon, Co-Founder, AGENCY.com, Brian McKernan from Digital Cinema Magazine, and Rob Davis, Executive Producer, Spiderdance, Inc.
